Sherry Woosley, PhD, Director of Analytics and Research

Sherry Woosley, Ph.D.

Director of Analytics & Research

As the Director of Analytics and Research at Benchworks, Sherry Woosley drives the content strategy for more than 50 Benchworks program assessment products. Sherry spent more than 10 years working in the area of assessment at Ball State University, where she also founded a graduate level academic program in institutional research. She has published articles in the College Student Journal, The Journal of College Student Retention, The Journal of College Student Development, The NASPA Journal, and Assessment Update. Sherry has also delivered more than 100 presentations at national conferences. Nationally recognized for her work in assessment, college student transitions, and predictive analytics, she holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizations from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Matthew Venaas

Research Manager

Matthew Venaas is a Research Manager for Benchworks and is responsible for building and delivering educational webinars, research notes, and reports related to analysis and findings from over 50 national benchmarking assessments. Matt is also responsible for developing, piloting, and maintaining new survey instruments. Matt is currently a directorate board member of ACPA’s Commission for Assessment and Evaluation. He regularly presents at annual conferences for ACPA, NASPA, and ACUHO-I on topics like data visualization, survey design, student involvement and engagement and best practices in assessment. He has a M.S.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education and a B.A. in Political Science from Northern Illinois University.

Kurt Moderson

Senior Research Manager

Kurt Moderson is a Senior Research Manager on the Analytics and Research Team at Benchworks. In this capacity, he works with the product and engineering teams to ensure data is meaningful and actionable. Kurt is also responsible for delivering custom research projects and researching new product features. Kurt received his Bachelors of Science in Communication Studies and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and his Masters of Science in Student Affairs from Missouri State University. Kurt worked in Residence Life and the University College at Winthrop University supporting student success prior to joining Skyfactor in 2013.
